Studio to Stage Session 2 – Art Deco and Ballet al Fresco (In-Person) Ages 5-6
June 7th to June 11th
Learn what goes into bringing a Ballet to life! Studio to Stage will offer students a daily movement class and a behind the scenes look into the creative work that happens to make the magic of the ballet come to life on stage. Students will create their own choreography and crafts to build their own ballet performance. Our first camp will focus on the 16th Century rise of ballet in France and the trends in art history at this time that influenced costuming and stage design. Our second camp will focus on the Art Deco movement and explore the partnership between visual artists and Les Ballets Russes.
Explore the Art Deco era in art history and its bold colors and shapes. See how the Neo-Classical era in ballet and Les Ballets Russes played a part in influencing and shaping this lush and bold trend in art and vice versa. Explore colorful ballets and stories from Les Ballet Russes and bring the outdoors in with daily movement classes and opportunities to explore movement and create our own original choreography inspired by outdoor activities. Students will develop crafts to suit each age group and reflect the era being studied. This camp will be the embodiment of art mirroring life with vibrant colors and movement exploration!
