Description

June 1st to June 4th

Learn what goes into bringing a Ballet to life! Studio to Stage will offer students a daily movement class and a behind the scenes look into the creative work that happens to make the magic of the ballet come to life on stage. Students will create their own choreography and crafts to build their own ballet performance. Our first camp will focus on the 16th Century rise of ballet in France and the trends in art history at this time that influenced costuming and stage design. Our second camp will focus on the Art Deco movement and explore the partnership between visual artists and Les Ballets Russes.

Explore the Late Baroque/Rococo era in art history, and rise of ballet in France with King Louis the XIV. Learn about the infancy of ballet, some of the first ballets on record and how luxe art, and decor influenced ballet during this time. Students will be able to take part in a daily movement class, learn about ballet history during this period and explore their creativity as they develop their own ballet in the style of this era. Students will develop crafts to suit each age group and reflect the era being studied. If sparkle is your favorite color, Rococo and Pointed Toes is for you and your budding dance and visual artist!
