A Midsummer Night's Dream

Colorado Ballet opens its 54th season with the Shakespearian classic A Midsummer Night's Dream featuring Felix Mendelssohn’s original score, performed live by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra. This enchanting ballet inspired by Shakespeare’s classical story is filled with mischief, romance and lots of comedy.

Back by popular demand, Dracula features choreography by Michael Pink. This horror classic includes music by Philip Feeney, performed live by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra. This Denver favorite is nothing short of chilling.

The Nutcracker

The Nutcracker features unforgettable characters as well as dazzling costumes and scenery by José Varona. This seasonal tradition will feature classic choreography paired with Tchaikovsky’s extraordinary arrangement performed live by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra.

New work (To Be Announced)

This popular series that we introduced in our 2012-2013 Season featuring works by "masters" of dance is back this season with three different works. Concerto Barocco, by choreographer George Balanchine is a rhythmic and spirited piece featuring a score by composer Johann Sebastian Bach. Fancy Free, choreographed by Jerome Robbins in 1944 with music by Leonard Bernstein is a comical and romantic ballet set during World War II featuring three sailors attempting to pick up three girls while on shore leave in New York. Ballet MasterWorks will also include third work to be announced. The Colorado Ballet Orchestra will perform the music to these three exciting works.

Peter & The Wolf
March 27 - 29
University of Denver's Newman Center

Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1 – Choreography by Clark Tippet, Music by Max Bruch
Peter and the Wolf – Choreography by Michael Smuin, Music by Sergei Prokofiev

Colorado Ballet will close out its season with the children’s classic, Peter and the Wolf. Choreographed by Michael Smuin, this witty and musical folk tale includes a musical score by Sergei Prokofiev. This production will open with a special performance of Bruch Violin Concerto No.1, choreographed by Clark Tippet featuring a beautiful score composed by Max Bruch.
